Recap of Sage ACT! 2012 World Tour

Last week, KSC held its annual sneak peek of the newest version of Sage ACT! with two events, one at the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago on June 20th, and the second at the Improv Comedy Club in Schaumburg, IL on June 21st.

Say “Happy Father’s Day!” with the Personal Info Tab

Father’s Day is just around the corner.  Have you considered reaching out to the fathers in your network to say happy Father’s Day?

ACT! is equipped with a tab that can easily keep track of the dads in your database.  By making use of the Personal Info tab a part of your best practices, you can store details about your contacts that are not directly linked to your business but should be noted to strengthen your relationships.

For instance, you are speaking with a client who tells you he is a team dad for his daughter’s basketball team.  You may make a note of the client’s daughter’s name on the Personal Info tab.  Then the next time you speak to your client, you can depend on your notes to remind you to ask how your client’s daughter’s basketball team is doing.

And if you make it a habit of noting the anecdotal details your contacts tell you as faithfully as you record the details relevant to your business, on a holiday like Father’s Day, it is as easy as running a lookup in your ACT! database to pull up a clean list of contacts you should reach out to on that day.

KSC’s ACT! 2012 World Tour is coming to a theatre near you (Chicago-land dwellers) and we would love to have you in the audience.

So what is an ACT! World Tour?  KSC will once again be holding a sneak preview in which we will unveil the newest release of ACT!.  Are you wondering what you would do at a preview?  Here is a quick rundown:

Kick the tires.  With the help of Emily Youkers, Manager of Sales Engineering at Sage, we will present a live demonstration of the new software.  Are you interested in the virtual notepad that comes with 2012, but need to see it in action?  At the demo, you can come see the innovative features for yourself.

Get answers.  Did you want a chance to ask questions about the software?  Are you curious about how the new Gmail integration will work with your current configurations?  The Q&A will invite you to get the information you need to start making important decisions.

Think business.  Our World Tour is not just about how the software works, it can also help you examine the effectiveness of your business’ current contact management process.

Share with colleagues.  You’ve used ACT! for years and you know someone who doesn’t know they need it too?  Bring them to the event so they can get a feel for what ACT! is all about—they may even win a free copy of the software!

When is it appropriate to upgrade?

Every once in a while we get a call from a client or prospect who already knows exactly what they want: the newest version of ACT!.  What do we say to them?  “That’s fantastic… but let’s determine if it’s a good fit for you.”

We like to serve each customer based on their unique needs and sometimes choosing to upgrade is not the most effective solution to a problem a client is facing.  Sometimes a little strategic planning, database customization, or even training can ease business pains that may not be as succinctly treated with an upgrade.

So when should you upgrade?  We encourage our clients to consider an upgrade when one of their business needs dovetails with one of the cutting-edge new features in the latest ACT! version.  For instance, we are excited to announce that ACT! 2012 will be able to integrate with Gmail—something several of our clients have requested to truly optimize their contact management system.  Now would be the time for these clients to upgrade.

When else should you upgrade?  Are you getting a new computer?  We always recommend you call us prior to purchasing a new PC in order to assure your computer specs are compatible with your version of ACT!.  However, if you are ready to upgrade your computer system office-wide, it may be time for you to upgrade your ACT! as well.  Much older versions of ACT! are incompatible with the newest version of Windows OS and Office.  Upgrading ACT! when you upgrade computers means you get to enjoy the best functionality between the two.
